Why live in Quezon City?

QUEZON CITY
Quezon City has a lot of residential options – from very affordable housing communities, to middle-income residential areas, to expensive upscale subdivisions.   From single units,  to mid-rise housing units and to high-rise condominiums, a whole range of housing type can also be found in this city.

Aside from residential areas, it is also a place of highly integrated office or work environment. Examples of these include:

Eastwood City is a “city within a city,” which supports a digital lifestyle. A resident can conveniently do banking, order food from restaurants, order products from other stores in this community, connect with others within and outside the cyberneighborhood, and transact business without having to leave the confines of his residential unit.
Araneta Center is a highly transit-oriented mixed-use community; with high-rise residential areas now more interspersed in densely commercial areas.
Eton Centris is an emerging mixed-use complex in the corner of EDSA and Quezon Avenue. It epitomizes the vibrant live-work-shop-play concept and supports green architecture and sustainable lifestyle practices. Already, the masterplanned complex is dotted with several leisure and retail establishments, plus a mini playground with a carousel. The planned three-tower Ascent is poised to become the first transit-oriented luxury condominium in the new Quezon City central business district. (source: quezoncity.gov.ph)

Quezon city does not offer the most number of schools but it does have the best schools. University of the Philippines-Diliman Campus tops the list of best college schools, followed by Ateneo de Manila University which is consistently in the top 5 best college schools in the Philippines. Philippines Science High School- arguably the best high school in the Philippines, has its main campus in Quezon City as well.

Next year, Quezon City will be formally named the "City of Stars". This will not only highlight the city "as a haven of major television studios, movie production outfits and recording companies, but the home of friendly, hospitable, talented, artistic, and helpful people,” as said by Councilor Roderick Paulate. This will showcase that Quezon City is not just a haven for business investments but also a place rich in culture.

Are you a "pillow" person?

People do not really agree if hugging pillows is something psychological. Some say they love hugging pillows because they feel protected or they like the feeling of being hugged. Others say it's just for physical comfort. It's normal to find pillows in the bedroom but not everyone is fond of having pillows especially in the living room. But they do make the ambiance more homey and more welcoming.

Pillows can also be an expression of one's artistic side. So maybe instead of paintings, you can prefer to have some "art pillows" inside your home. Below shows some examples. I got these from a fellow blogger who creates pillows.

Psychological or not, I would love to have pillows in my living room whether to hug or to support my back or whatever. Plus they really look nice and they do give a sense of comfort.

Siblings: You’re Stuck with Each Other, So Stick Together.

“The idea of each child having his or her own bedroom is a fairly recent phenomenon in history,” says James J. Crist, Ph.D., psychologist and co-author of Siblings: You’re Stuck with Each Other, So Stick Together.

I share a bedroom with my sister whenever we live together in one roof since we were kids. When we were in college, we shared a room in a dormitory for two years. We lived in a double-decked bed and since I am the older one, I always get to choose what’s more convenient for me which is the bed down. I feel a little guilty now. Anyway, as siblings, we share our stuff together such as food, food and food. Actually food is the only thing we really get to share with because we have different courses so we didn’t share books. Sometimes, we share clothes but that doesn’t really count because my sister has a different taste of fashion so I only borrow her clothes if I am desperate. Food expenses is the biggest pie in our budget so I can say we have saved by sharing.   We also asked favors from each other sometimes like getting food or water from the canteen or handing something to someone. One of the downsides though is that because we are normal siblings, we also fight often and it is embarrassing to our other room mates when we fight over our allowances or who will make a reservation for two in the bus terminal when we are going home and many mundane things. But of course as siblings, we truly take care of each other and living as room mates has brought us more closer and helped us understand each other more.

Benefits of Having A Room Mate

Benefits of having a room mate(based on personal experience):

Sharing a room with your sibling not only saves money but allows you to build a lasting bond.

1. Saves money.

Sharing a room with someone is generally cheaper than having to shoulder the rent alone. It not only saves you rent fee but also with electricity, water and food expenses. This is assuming of course that you live in harmony and you share freely with your room mate.

2. You have someone you can drag to accompany you anywhere.

Have you experienced times when you want to go to a museum or to a movie but no one seems available who can accompany you? Well, if you have a room mate, he or she is the first person in the your list of who-can-i-drag-to-accompany-me people.
3. You have someone you can share your hobbies, enthusiasm and stuff with.

I am well aware that I am a unique person and sometimes I get crazy over stuff and I want to discover many many things. Well, a room mate means for me a channel to bring out my excitement and enthusiasm and then we'll get crazy together.

4. Opportunity to have a friend for life a room mate

This is the most important thing which can be gained by having a room mate. Your room is perhaps the most intimate place you have and it figures that your room mate is one of the people who is closest to you. And having him or her as a lifelong friend means you have someone whom you can depend on. You have a life whom you have touched and you have someone whom you shared your life with.
